Because we only get one weekend off a month, my family tries to spend that one weekend out of the house making memories together. But due to Covid-19, we haven’t been able to spend a single weekend this year out together as a family. This weekend we finally had our chance. We made plan to go camping in our big tent, but when we saw that the heat index was supposed to be around 105, we thought better of it. So Sarah figured out a compromise. We rented a tiny little cabin at a nearby KOA camp. It was a little wood cabin (spelled with a K) with two rooms, two bunk beds in one room, and a full size bed in the other. And most importantly, there was a small air conditioner in the wall. The cabin also had a small porch with a porch swing and a patio with a picnic table and fire pit.
All in all, it turned out to be quite the fun little weekend. We had plenty of shade in the trees. We had the dogs with us. The boys rode some neat pedal cars around the camp. We made dinner over the fire and toasted some marshmallows for s’mores. As the sun set, we sat on the cabin patio and listened to a group of accordion players the nearby pavilion. We had a wonderful time as a family. It was so nice to be able to get away. And even though we wore masks anytime we were near other people, it still felt like a weekend from when the world felt more, well, normal.
Here are some photos of our time from our time away this weekend:
