Some thoughts on Summer Solstice

Summer solstice.
Sunrise is my alarm clock.
Solve the Wordle.
Soak in the game six Pacers win.

Supposed to get to 101 today.
Skim through headlines.
Still not at war with Iran.
Start the kettle for the morning’s coffee.

Sit in the kitchen with headphones on.
Sunbeams streak through the slits of the binds.
Sip coffee with eyes closed.
Send texts to friends I’m praying for.

Sort through the tasks of the day.
Sing along with some songs.
Smile and laugh about some of the lyrics.
Sip a second cup of coffee.

Scout camp ends today.
Soon we’ll go see my son and celebrate.
Sort of been lonely without him here.
Suppose that’s how it goes.

Stop at Sonic for happy hour.
Slushies with the good ice.
Stuff that summer is made for.
Sunset is at 9:01.

So I enjoy every minute of this day.
