You’re gonna hear it anyway

I’ve found that I tend to have a bent towards the pharisaical. I like things to be black and white. I like the feeling of being right. I dig in my heels when I know I have the higher ground.

Well, a moneylender had two debtors; one owed five hundred dollars, and the other fifty. When the debtors could not pay, the moneylender graciously canceled the debts for both of them. Which of the debtors loved the moneylender more?

No one is washing my feet with their tears and hair, but I do have a table filled with sinners. I don’t even know how truly grateful they are, but I know I am.

Happy Thanksgiving! This is my favorite day of the year. No other day even comes close.

Yesterday we gave a full TED talk to one of our girls who has struggled for the last month. It went in one ear and out the other. I watched it happen. I’m not exaggerating.

But then we forgave her. We chose mercy over sacrifice. And it felt weird. But the rest of my day was so much better for it.

Those who have ears to hear, let them hear. Those who don’t, well, you’re gonna hear it anyway. He causes it to rain on the just and the unjust after all.

A good meal is a mercy. And today is the biggest meal we serve all year. So feel free to take your fill. Then make sure to take seconds and thirds and fourths. We’ll still have twelve baskets leftover, I’m sure of it.
