I had an observation recently, and it goes something like
this…
You know Mario? The video game? Pretty much any of the ones for Nintendo or
SNES. The castles with lava and spinning things and ghosts were always a challenge.
But after a while you realize that if you just run the entire level you never
have to worry about anything hitting you. It’s when you stop and try and make
it through just right that many times you don’t make it. Well, this is not too
far off real life when it comes to driving. How many times have you said to
yourself when you first pull up to turn into traffic, “I should have
gone.”? I’ve said it many times and I know I’ve heard my parents say it
many times as well. I have realized that if you drive up and just go as soon as
you can it almost always works. Seriously.
Life example: I work at Quiznos part time. I usually work during the busiest
times on the dreaded 135. However, a literal time worp in the space/time continuum
is found in a neighborhood called Carefree South. (I live in North) Instead of
having to go on 135 I can completely avoid 135 altogether by going through
Carefree South. There’s only one catch. I have to turn left onto Smith Valley.
Many times if I don’t go right when I get there, and there’s almost always an
opportunity, I don’t end up going for about 5-7 minutes. I have found that if I
go as soon as I get there I always make it safely into traffic. It’s really
strange and I think it resembles Mario.

Basketball tonight for anyone interested. It starts at 8:30 and ends whenever
we get tired of playing.
Today was semi-productive day.
